Thought the Mad Men theme song (A Beautiful Mine) was his only good song? Think again. This guy has been killing it on my playlists. Check out RJD2.
“The reason you haven’t felt it is because it doesn’t exist. What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. You’re born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I’m living like there’s no tomorrow, because there isn’t one.”-Don Draper
If you’re putting on a tuxedo, there must be a big reason. Sometimes, a man might put on a suit just because he feels like wearing a suit, but if he puts on a tuxedo, there must be an occasion. So if you’re wearing a tuxedo for a specific purpose, you might as well give the tuxedo some purpose. Nothing rises to the occasion like a shawl collar tuxedo. Is there a tuxedo out there that’s more classic, more timeless, or more elegant? For example, look at Sean Connery wearing a shawl collar while starring as James Bond in the 1965 film Thunderball.

Don Draper wears a mean shawl collar as well. I’m not sure if I would do a white jacket, but if it got me in a photo with the lovely January Jones then I might be swayed to wear one.
But it doesn’t get any better than when Don dons the shawl collar in black like he does here.
But the shawl collar was not just a piece that stood up during the 60s. It still holds up today, and men who wear it today are not just another tuxedo at the ball. The shawl collar makes a man stand out in a sea of tuxes. Ryan Gosling knows this, and although I understand you’re not the Gos, there’s no harm in taking some tips from him. You might as well because deep inside, we all wish we were him.
Kanye gets it.

Aziz Ansari rocks it.

Ralph Lauren knows that a man needs a solid, classic shawl collar and does a great job with this tuxedo from his Black Label.
The shawl collar not only makes the modern man stand out, but it also defines the modern gentleman. It shows that a man can do better than just pick out a tux. It shows that he has taste and can make a sartorial decision. It shows his interest in details, and his desire to stand out in the crowd. He’s not just another face in the crowd or another tux in a sea of suits. He’s the man in the shawl collar tuxedo.
Maybe it’s the glamor. Maybe it’s the suits. Maybe it’s the women. Maybe it’s the advertising. Maybe it’s the 60s. Maybe it’s Don Draper. Whatever it is, I love Mad Men.
I need to catch up on Mad Men Season 5. I’m so far behind that it’s getting to the point where my friends are trying not to tell me what’s happening, but it just keeps slipping out. You know what I mean? Anyway, in the meantime, here’s a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Draper that should keep us all happy until I find out what is going on.
Don Draper: Living proof that 5 seasons of non-stop smoking, drinking, and womanizing makes you better looking.
